Hide and Seek Bookshelf

The idea for this bookshelf came from the initial deduction of the CNC laser technology as one that creates the desired aspects of sight, or being ‘see through’ against the solid elements that will remain being those where whatever was behind could remain hidden. The thought was  to incorporate this idea on various levels within one peice of furniture and thought that a bookshelf would be most suitable. Of all the pieces of home furniture, it is one which has the ability to hold many elements which can therefore be seen and unseen. Going beyond the simple structural idea of a bookshelf as this tall, solid material there was the incorporation of a sliding screen to show this idea on a larger scale with a further carving out of lines of sight and the inverse of hidden areas to encapsulate this larger idea.
